Jamie Barrett writes that his alias, FUTURETRO “symbolises a harmonious equilibrium. A balance of dualities. Where the future meets the past. Flowing in the infinite now…” His sculptures display this duality and opposing forces by using synthetic acrylic and transforming them into natural organic shapes. His unique vision transforms the rigid acrylic material into incredible creations of the imagination.
FUTURETRO uses his connection with nature as his inspiration and likens his colourful Plexiglas© sculptures to bioluminescent deep-sea creatures. His “Naturesynth” sculpture series combines Plexiglas© with natural materials and uses light to bring the sculptures to life.

FUTURETRO’s interactive sculptures utilize a combination of shapes, colours, sounds and technology to create immersive and interactive installations. FUTURETRO has fine-tuned his art over the years to create his own techniques to specially manipulate Plexiglas© acrylic to create his masterpieces.

It’s ease of fabrication, lightweight properties and availability of colours and finishes makes Plexiglas© the ideal material for his artwork. FUTURETRO finds Plexiglas© incomparable to any other material – it has some similarities to glass but much more mailable, less breakable and cost effective. Most importantly, the way Plexiglas© interacts with light allows for high transparency which makes it a great material to bring FUTURETRO’s inspiration and energy to life.
